The Mirroring Angels

A contemporary fairy tale

An immersive artistic experience in which live music, theatre, storytelling, dance, photography, video projections and interactive multimedia come together in a shared emotional journey.

More than a theatre show, The Mirroring Angels is an invitation to rediscover the universal language of art: a language that goes beyond words, cultures and generations, connecting people through emotion, imagination and creativity.

A dialogue

Master: “Show me how to play.”

Child: “But you already know.”

Master: “Maybe… but they don’t always listen to me.”

Child: “Then play. Sing. Dance. Act. Dream. Paint. Create your own world. Choose the colours that speak to your heart, the words that truly express who you are and the melodies that resonate in your soul. One day that world will blossom inside you and, if you wish, you can share it with everyone.”

Master: “With everyone?”

Child: “Yes. With everyone.”

The story behind the fairy tale

The Mirroring Angels is a multidisciplinary production created for the families and the local community of Syros. It draws on two children’s fairy tales by Angeliki Varella and Maria Palioura, together with selected passages from Apparitions and Miracles of the Angels by the Monastery of Agios Irakleidios, reinterpreted in a contemporary artistic language.

At the heart of the show is the original song “Angeli” in Italian, “Ángeloi” in Greek and “Let Your Angels Fall” in English, performed by children, young people and adults in a symbolic dialogue between generations. The Angel is not presented only as a religious symbol, but as a universal figure of inspiration, protection, hope and human values.

Designed on the principles of Universal Design Thinking

From the start, the show was designed to offer many ways of experiencing the same story. Music, movement, words, visual storytelling, Greek Sign Language, multilingual subtitles and interactive multimedia coexist in the artistic composition, so that every spectator can approach the work in the way that feels most natural.
